Entebbe Christian School is now conducting learning online. The program started in June 2020 and has been running for a year now. It is now conducted for classes P1 – P6.
The School Management Committee did this by launching a school website and teacher-learner instruction via the Zoom app. The website is www.entebbechristianschool.ac.ug.
The school’s headteacher, Mrs. Juliet Mwalye, says the purpose of the learning is to cover subject content, keep learners engaged and maintain touch with teachers and parents.
Teachers have been duly trained in various skills to manage online teaching which includes computer skills, presentation skills, preparing digital learning resources, using the Zoom app, and class control among others.
Learning has been enhanced by the unlimited valuable resources and content available online to support learning that the teachers and learners have been exposed to e.g. images, videos, illustrations, etc.
There’s been a mindset change that learning cannot be limited by time and boundaries.
The students have been engaged during the lockdown through interaction with their teachers and other learners. and have been equipped with various skills which include communication, virtual learning, and IT skills. The learners interact with their teachers on Zoom and later access subject notes and work activities on the website. They download and write notes in their books.Parents have supported the learning by providing an enabling environment for the children to learn, providing resources (gadgets and data), supervising the learners at home, and interacting with teachers about their children’s progress.
There is no limit to the learning and academic excellence at Entebbe Christian School.
